How lemon can help you lose weight

When losing weight, the body can quickly slide into a nutrient deficit and malnutrition can develop. Not only then is it good to regularly incorporate lemons into your diet to support healthy weight loss and to protect yourself against vitamin deficiencies.

How does lemon help you lose weight?

Lemon helps you lose weight just like other citrus fruits thanks to its bitter substances.

The term “citrus fruits” is immediately associated with lemons and oranges. But there are more citrus fruits! This also includes limes, mandarins, clementines, grapefruits, bitter oranges and the huge pomelos.

Citrus fruits also support your immune system with their high vitamin C content and thus prevent colds, for example.

Citrus fruits like lemons can also help you lose weight to lose fat. Because citrus fruits not only contain citric acid, but also natural bitter substances. These act as natural appetite suppressants. In addition, these bitter substances work against bacteria, cancer and inflammation and lower cholesterol.

If bitter substances are supposed to suppress the appetite, they shouldn’t be “hidden” under sweeteners! There are particularly many bitter substances in the peel of the citrus fruits – especially in the white areas.

Which lemons do you prefer?

Basically: If you use the lemons whole when losing weight to get to the bitter substances under the peel, they must be organically grown, it should be healthy and not toxic!

In conventional cultivation and trade, the peel of citrus fruits is treated not only with pesticides, but also with fungicides so that the fruits do not start to mold on their way from the bush to the store (and during the sometimes long storage).

To give the fruits an attractive shine, everything is sealed with a layer of wax. And you’d drink all of that. Good Appetite! Therefore , please use organically grown citrus fruits, not only when losing weight, but fundamentally.

Which citrus fruits are ultimately up to you, whether lemon, orange, grapefruit, mandarin or other, that is up to you.

So that you get the healthy fruits on your plate more often, we have delicious recipe ideas for you. Try them out and incorporate more lemons into your daily diet! Especially if the lemons are supposed to help you lose weight.

Lemonade

The “lemonade” is the equivalent of “lemonade” made from limes. But you can also use any other citrus fruit, depending on your taste! It’s very easy, all you need is a citrus fruit (with the peel!) And a powerful blender.

  • 1 lemon
  • 200ml water

Wash the lemon and cut it into smaller cubes, about 2x2cm in size. If possible, remove the seeds. Put the fruit pieces with the water in a blender / blender and puree both together until a milky liquid is formed.

The “lemonade” is ready! If you like, sweeten them to taste, but don’t forget that sugar is really counterproductive when it comes to weight loss!

Low-fat lemon chicken

The combination of lemon and poultry is perfect for a mild summer evening – or to bring Mediterranean holiday memories to the table while losing weight. You need:

  • 1 breast fillet per person (skinless)
  • 1 lemon per person
  • Approx. 250g potatoes per person
  • 1 small onion per person
  • Fresh basil
  • Pepper, salt, olive oil

Grease a baking dish with a little olive oil that can be heated to a high temperature. Cut ½ lemon per person into thin slices, squeeze out the other half and cut the remaining lemon zest into small cubes.

Cut the onions into rings and the potatoes (with the skin!) Into wedges. Put everything mixed together in the baking dish and bake it in the oven at 200 degrees for about 50 minutes. If you leave out the potatoes, you will have a low-carb dinner.

Fresh lemon juice

The lemon is ideal to start the new day every morning with a boost of vitamins and minerals. So the day starts really healthy and you have received an important boost of nutrients from nature even before leaving your apartment.

If the juice without sugar is too acidic for you, you can soften its acidity with a little baking soda. Stir in about a pinch of baking soda per glass and wait for it to stop bubbling. Soda binds the acid so that the lemon juice is more digestible. Especially when losing weight on an empty stomach.
