1. Lemon tea, an excellent alternative

The lemon has great healing properties.  It has a detoxifying and strong antioxidant effect. In addition, it is said to have anti-cancer properties. 

To take advantage of this citrus fruit, we suggest the following recipe:

  • 4 cups of water (1 liter)
  • Zest of 2 organic lemons
  • Juice of 2 lemons
  • Honey (at will)

  • Heat the water with the lemon peel and let it boil for 15 minutes.
  • Then add the lemon juice and sweeten with honey.
  • You can enjoy this drink warm or cold.

2. Ice, a great help against headaches

Applying a cold compress is one of the best natural headache remedies.

  • Put some ice cubes in a plastic bag. You will need to be able to seal them completely in the bag to prevent any water leakage.
  • Then cover the bag with a towel and place the whole thing directly on the painful area.
  • Let the cold pack work for 2 minutes and then take a break for 30 seconds. Repeat the application for a total of 20 minutes.

    3. Chamomile tea

    The chamomile plant is characterized by various medicinal properties. Use chamomile flowers for this headache treatment.

    ingredients

    • 1 cup of water (250 ml)
    • 1 tablespoon of chamomile flowers (10 g)

    instructions

    • Bring the water to a boil and use it to brew the chamomile flowers.
    • Then let the tea steep for 10 minutes.
    • You should drink this tea hot.

    However, you can also use it to perform a cold treatment.

    • Let the tea cool down and add a few ice cubes.
    • Wet a clean cloth with the tea and place it on your eyelids for 20 minutes.
    • Then take a 20 minute break and repeat the application.

      4. Lavender oil

      Essential oils have wonderful effects on the body. It’s best to use lavender oil for headaches.

      It can be used in its pure form or in combination with other oils.

      • 4 drops of lavender oil
      • 1 tablespoon of olive oil (16 g)
      • ½ tablespoon argan oil (7 g)
      • ½ tablespoon of almond oil (7 g)

      instructions

      • This combination of oils works great.
      • Use it to massage your temples and the area behind your ears. 
      • It’s also good to put a little of this oil on your pillow or clothes, as the aroma is healing.

      5. Ginger, a natural wonder

      Ginger is very versatile and is very popular not only in the kitchen, but also in natural medicine. This sharp root has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects and is therefore also useful for headaches.

      ingredients

      • ¼ teaspoon grated ginger (1 g)
      • 1 glass of water (200 ml)

      instructions

      • Grate a small amount of ginger, no more than ¼ teaspoon.
      • Then brew the ginger with boiling water, let it steep and then drink this infusion.
      • This home remedy is also effective for migraines.

      6. Cold and hot water

      • 1 tablespoon of mustard (10 g)
      • 4 tablespoons of sea salt (40 g)
      • 1 glass of water (200 ml)

      instructions

      • Mix the mustard with the sea salt, then pour the mixture into a glass of hot water and stir well.
      • Then take two containers. Pour cold water into the first container and then hot water into the second container. Add half of the mixture to each of the containers.
      • Then bathe  your feet in it alternately for  five minutes.
      • Repeat this until the hot water has cooled down.
      • Finish the treatment with cold water.

        7. Anti-stress foods and relaxation practices

        Knowing that stress is causing the headache, you can incorporate various calming foods into your diet. So-called  “anti-stress foods”  are oats and products with omega 3 (e.g. nuts).
